Within FPG, the Fiscal Policy Unit (WKPEF) supports World Bank Group operations to strengthen countries’ efforts in using tax and expenditure policy, the management of fiscal risks and fiscal planning for boosting equitable growth and underpinning macroeconomic stability. As a Global Unit, WKPEF provides technical advice, support and thought leadership on these issues to the wider GP’s operational work in the Regions. This work includes: (a) preparation of analytic work, guidelines, tools, and data that support the Bank’s global engagement and the work by regional units on fiscal policy issues and quality of spending; (b) development and management of the Public Finance Review (PFR) Platform, BOOST program, and fiscal datasets; (c) collaborating with other international stakeholders, such as IMF and OECD, on fiscal policy issues.

WKPEF is recruiting a Senior Economist with demonstrating expertise in fiscal regimes of extractive industries and macro-fiscal management of resource revenue. The successful candidate will provide intellectual leadership and conduct analytical work to advance the World Bank Group’s knowledge agenda in these domains. Responsibilities include offering macroeconomic and fiscal guidance to sector teams, ensuring consistency between sectoral policies, investment decisions, and the overarching macro-fiscal framework. Additionally, the candidate will act as the primary liaison for regional teams involved in macroeconomic and fiscal discussions with counterparts in the ministry of finance on extractive matters, including supporting lending operations.

The selected candidate will be offered a two-year appointment, renewable at the discretion of the World Bank Group.
